Pholamed Healthcare is the brainchild of Dr. Saba Shembe, whose vast experience spans various aspects of the medical field. This includes medical research for institutions like UKZN and Wits Health, occupational medicine at Impala Mines, and serving as a family practitioner in various hospitals. Her experience extends to ICU, casualties, and handling medical emergencies at renowned hospitals such as Morningside Medi-Clinic, Sandton Medi-Clinic, and Life Group Hospitals, which include locations like Fourways, Flora, and Wilgeheuwel.

 

Dr. Saba Shembe boasts a remarkable academic background. She qualified with a Bachelor of Oral Health from UKZN in 1993. She later pursued a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, qualifying in 2002. In addition to these degrees, Dr. Shembe has other credentials, including DipHIV/AIDS, BLS, ACLS, ATLS, and APLS.

 

In 2004, she formally opened an ARV Clinic at the Blessed Gerard Care Centre in Mandini. Following this, she managed occupational health at Impala Mines, took on the role of Provincial PMTCT in KZN for ARK, and worked for the Khethimpilo NGO. Here, she served as the District Director of the Program ACC, later advancing to become the Provincial Program Manager and Technical Head for ACC. Before founding Pholamed Healthcare, Dr. Shembe held esteemed positions as a Medical Director, Partner, and Shareholder at Intercare Northriding.

 

On a personal note, Dr. Saba Shembe is known for her empathetic nature and her passionate drive for her profession. She deeply loves her work. Apart from her medical pursuits, she has varied interests that include reading, enjoying jazz music, traveling, and swimming.
